A polish woman has confessed to hiding twelve Jews in Major Eduard Rugemar's villa during World War II.
Working as the housekeeper of the house, Irene Gut Opdyke hid the twelve Jews in the servant's quarters knowing that Rugemar would not go down there. Opdyke said that during the day they would help her clean around the house and at night they would quiet as a mouse. Rugemar said that he had never suspected a thing.
