The Biography of Joan California Cooper

Joan California cooper is an African American playwright and author. She wrote seventeen plays and named the Black Playwright in 1978. Her work in the theater that she caught the attention of acclaimed poet and novelist Alice Walker. Encouraged by walker to turn the popular storytelling skills to fiction Cooper her first short story "A Piece of Mine," in 1984. The collection contains 12 short stories of troubles in black, small town setting. The focuses of these stories are abusive men, and the women who get revenge on them.
