SHORT-TERM EFFECTS OF THE CIVIL WAR

Some short-term effects took place once the Civil War was resolved. The union solidified under President Lincoln's rule, the North victory led to the development of the Emancipation Proclamation, created by Lincoln. The Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves from the southern states that had succeeded. This was one of the first attempts towards civil rights and equality.
