In today's world, most organizational leaders commonly fear the word power. In America, leaders are confronted by situations that involve a choice of power all the time. A majority of them shy away from power as a means to settle or solve there problems. Most leaders would agree they don't enjoy conflict. Even as we intend to be positive, we more likely come across threatening or announcing warning. Who wants to always be in a constant "power struggle"? So it is likely to have mixed feelings about using power as everyone wants to be powerful, but it's not polite to show it.
In American work environments, leaders do not talk about power nearly enough in their organizations, let alone deal with it effectively! And this is showing to be a costly mistake. So let's take a better look at what power actually is. It is the actual expenditure of energy. It could be said that everyone is powerful then, and in most cases some of the worst performers are the most powerful people in the organizations.
