Introducci'n

Con relaci'n al contexto de la obra podemos decir que hay cuatro aspectos diferentes, est' el contexto hist'rico, el social y el est'tico se junta con el ideol'gico. Antes de todo, debemos definirlo, el contexto 'es el conjunto de circunstancias que rodean a la emisi'n del texto y/o la producci'n de la presentaci'n, circunstancias que facilitan o permiten su comprensi'n .' Como hip'tesis tenemos la siguiente pregunta, 'Se podr'a decir que el consumismo es un factor alienante del materialismo?

La Visita De La Vieja Dama fue publicada poco tiempo despu's de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Europa se encontraba en una situaci'n deplorable, donde hab'a muchos muertos, heridos y la gente se encontraba empobrecida, con muchas deudas. Se podr'a decir que la sociedad se encontraba en un estancamiento econ'mico. El tema de la pobreza en Alemania est' impl'cito en la obra y el 'nico elemento sobre la Segunda Guerra Mundial que se encuentra expl'cito es el poema con referencia a la bomba at'mica que aparece solo al final. Esto es lo que constituye al contexto hist'rico.

Desarrollo

Con respecto al contexto social, podemos decir que Durrenmatt presenta de una forma muy clara la tem'tica del materialismo, el consumismo y la sociedad en masas. La obra nos permite observar c'mo la gente de Gullen no deja de comprar y consumir cosas, esto nos demuestra que el consumo no satisface el deseo, sino que solo se quiere consumir. Un ejemplo de materialismo es la numerosa cantidad de maridos y amores que tuvo el personaje principal, Clara Zachanassian, y la forma en que los hace llamar, por n'mero en lugar de llamarlos por el nombre, los trata como si fuesen objetos. Otro factor que contribuye al materialismo es la enorme cantidad de pr'tesis que tiene Clara en todo el cuerpo, se podr'a decir que es pr'cticamente de pl'stico.

Por ultimo, la sociedad de masas y la industrializaci'n que hab'a en Europa en aquella 'poca es representada por las distintas marcas de productos industrializados que aparecen a lo largo de la obra y por la falta de individualismo y originalidad en los personajes, todos hacen lo mismo, todos compran lo mismo y todos siguen a la masa.

Como 'ltimo aspecto de contexto tenemos al est'tico que va junto con el ideol'gico, ya que ambos se refieren al existencialismo y al absurdo.

El absurdo 'es aquello que es visto como no razonable, como algo que carece totalmente de sentido o de v'nculo l'gico con el resto del texto o de la escena .' La obra en s' no es absurda, sino que es una parodia o una antipieza, ya que tiene algunas situaciones absurdas. Esto lo podemos ver en la excesiva cantidad de pr'tesis que tiene Clara Zachanassian, la numerosa cantidad de maridos, los nombres que le pone a ellos y a sus sirvientes y tambi'n en la cantidad de dinero que gasta para satisfacer sus necesidades y conseguir lo que quiere.

Los distintos tipos de contextos tienen un 'rol' muy importante ya que te ayudan a entender la obra de una forma m's profunda y a tener m's en claro la tem'tica elegida.

La visita de la vieja dama escrita por Friedrich Durrenmatt, trata sobre el regreso de Clara Zachanassian a la ciudad de Gullen. Esta es una anciana multimillonaria que vuelve al pueblo de su infancia, donde una vez hace mucho tiempo tuvo que escapar por estar embarazada y haber negado el hombre al que amaba la paternidad del bebe, ella se dedic' a la prostituci'n y luego se cas' con un millonario, enviud' y hered', y luego con otro millonario, y repetici'n de lo mismo, hasta convertirse en una mujer multimillonaria. En el pueblo la esperan con ansias ya que todos los habitantes se han empobrecido, est'n llenos de deudas, sin posibilidades de trabajo y sin un futuro seguro. Todos conf'an y tienen la f' de que ella les va a donar una gran cantidad de dinero y que gracias a eso van a salir del estancamiento y de la pobreza. Sin embargo, Clara vuelve con un solo objetivo, el cual deja muy en claro ...
