The Constitution says that the states must accept the legal proceedings of other states this includes marriages. When the state of Vermont legalized gay unions Congress passed legislation telling all the states that they could decide whether they would accept gay unions from Vermont. Since then Massachusetts has legalized gay marriages and most states have amended their constitutions to define marriage as a man and women. You are Supreme Court justice and the matter is now before you how do you rule and why?
If I were to be the Supreme Court Justice I would definitely not be in favor of legalizing the guy marriages. I personally don't believe that gays should have the same rights in housing, jobs, public accommodations, and should have equal access to government benefits, equal protection of the law. The reasons for opposing gay marriage are based on the assumption that gays have a choice in who they can feel attracted to, and the reality is quite different.Eventhough many people actually believe that gays could simply choose to be heterosexual if they wished.
